Phone Interview: Getting the Story

The Editor-in-Chief’s job is take the narrative responses provided by the customer to a series of strategic questions from the interview, and create a compelling, persuasive, business account of what happened.

  • In a conversational format vs. a straight question and answer session, the Editor-in-Chief covers the following information during the interview:
    • What led to realizing a new solution was needed?
    • What needed to be accomplished?
    • What were the underlying business implications (ie. what was the effect of this problem on customers, employees, the organization and/or the business)?
    • What were the business (and/or technology) challenges?
    • What goals and objectives were set for the new solution?
    • Why was this solution (and vendor) chosen, why was it a competitive standout?
    • How is the solution currently being used?
    • What business benefits are delivered as a result of achieving the objectives set?
    • What is the resulting business impact on the company, operation, employees, customers, etc.?
    • What major lessons where learned, and what advice can be offered?
    • With this new solution, what opportunities now lay ahead?
